Skarmory is one of the few Pokémon in the game that can’t be caught anywhere. Instead, you need to find it in a cave and use your Master Ball to catch it.

The only way to find Skarmory is by playing the Safari Zone. You can play the Safari Zone at any time, but it’s best to do so as early as possible because there are fewer Pokémon available later on in the game.

To play the Safari Zone, go to Fuchsia City and head west until you reach Route 16. There’s a building here called the Safari Zone Park, which is actually a zoo with various wild Pokémon inside of it. The building itself is shaped like an elephant and has two entrances — one on each side of the building — where you can enter into different parts of the park.

Inside each section of the park, there will be various types of Pokémon that appear randomly depending on what time period you’re playing in (morning or afternoon). For example, if you’re playing during morning hours then you may encounter Pidgey or Spearow while playing in grassy areas, but if it’s afternoon then these same areas may contain Butterfree or Beedrill instead.
