Why Is My Engine Knocking After An Oil Change?

If your engine is knocking, it could be one of several things. If you’ve had an oil change, it’s possible that the mechanic didn’t tighten the drain plug enough. If this is the case, you’ll need to take the car in for another oil change and have them tighten it properly.

If your engine has been running on low oil pressure, this can also cause it to knock. Sometimes if too much oil is put in or if there’s a leak somewhere, the engine will run out of lubrication and begin knocking loudly.

If your engine is knocking after an oil change, but you haven’t had any other work done on your car recently, then it’s likely that something else is wrong with your vehicle besides low oil pressure or an insufficiently tightened drain plug.

A professional mechanic can help diagnose what may be causing your engine to knock after an oil change.
