Why Does My Surface Pro Keep Freezing?

The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book are great Microsoft devices. They’re powerful, functional, and fast, but if you use them for more than a few minutes and start to notice that your device is freezing up, you may have a software problem.

There are two reasons why your Surface device might be freezing: either it’s running out of memory or it’s having some kind of hardware issue.

If you’re having problems with your Surface device freezing up when you open apps, or when you try to do something like switch between apps, then there’s a good chance that your device is running out of memory.

This can happen because Windows uses RAM (Random-Access Memory) to keep track of what’s happening on your screen and where different windows are located. If there isn’t enough RAM available then Windows will stop responding until it frees up some space in its memory pool. If this happens often enough then it can lead to system crashes and other problems as well as causing apps to freeze up.

The good news is that there’s an easy way to fix this problem: just add more RAM!
