The most common reason why the Nexus 5 keeps turning off is because of a faulty battery. If you have a new Nexus 5, it’s possible that your battery was defective or damaged during shipping. If this is the case, you should contact Google or LG to see if they can replace it for you.
If you’re sure that your battery isn’t the problem and that there are no hardware issues with your phone, then we recommend trying one of these steps:
Restart your phone. Hold down the power button until it shuts off, then wait ten seconds before turning it back on again.
Stop using apps that take up too much power or memory. If you’ve downloaded too many apps or games recently, try uninstalling a few of them to free up memory so your phone doesn’t shut down unexpectedly.
If none of these solutions work for you, try taking out your SIM card and battery for at least five minutes and then putting them back in again to see if that works. If all else fails, contact Google or LG about getting a replacement device.
