Why Does My Dog Growl At My Feet?

The first thing to do is to make sure that you are not doing anything that triggers the behaviour. If the dog growls when you approach him, then you may have accidentally been giving him an aggressive signal (like staring or making eye contact). If you have tried this and it is not the case, then there are a couple of reasons why your dog could be doing this.

You could have an anxious or fearful dog who is just trying to protect himself from something that he does not understand. This could be anything from a strange noise or smell to you going out for a long period of time. You should try working on building up his confidence so that he feels more relaxed around these things in the future.

Another possibility is that your dog has learned to associate your feet with something unpleasant such as being corrected for something he did wrong or being punished for something else entirely. If this is the case then it will take some time and patience on your part but it can be done with some work and patience!
