Why Do My Hips hurt When I Sneeze ?

This is a common condition, and it’s called the iliopsoas syndrome. The iliopsoas muscle is a group of muscles that flexes your hip joint. It also helps to stabilize your lower back during activities such as walking and running. The iliopsoas runs from your lower spine through your inner thigh and attaches to the top of the femur (thigh bone).

When you sneeze or cough, this muscle contracts suddenly and forcefully. This can irritate the tissue surrounding it, causing pain in the groin area. The pain may be more severe with certain movements, such as walking up stairs, but will lessen once you stop exerting yourself.

The exact cause of this condition isn’t known, but some people have found relief by strengthening their core muscles and doing exercises designed to improve posture and balance.
