Why Do My Breasts Go Flat When I Lay Down ?

The breasts are made of fat, glands and connective tissue. They respond to gravity by flattening when you lie down.

Breast shape is also affected by the bra you wear and how tight it is. If your bra is too tight, the skin around the nipple will stretch out and become distorted when you lay down. This can make your breast look larger than it really is.

Breast size also changes throughout your menstrual cycle as well as during pregnancy. Breast size can increase up to 20% during pregnancy due to an increase in hormones such as estrogen, which causes more fluid retention in the breasts.

The most common cause of breast pain is fibrocystic breast changes or fibrocystic disease (FDC). FDC occurs when breast tissue becomes enlarged and lumpy due to changes in hormone levels during the menstrual cycle or pre-menopause. During this time, you may notice that your breasts feel tender or lumpy before or after your period starts; however, this condition usually gets better on its own over time without treatment.
