Goten is the second son to Goku and Chi-Chi, and the younger brother of Gohan. Goten is born in the series’ filler episodes, and before he is born, his father already knows that he will be a great fighter like his father and older brother.

Goten’s first appearance in the series is in Dragon Ball Z episode 196 “The Shadow Dragons”, where he was shown while still in his mother’s womb. He did not make an appearance until Dragon Ball GT episode 64 “Final Atonement”, where he was shown to be fighting with Trunks against a dinosaur creature on Planet Tuffle (Earth).

Goten makes his first appearance as an adult in the series’ main timeline during the Majin Buu Saga, where he helps save his father from being absorbed by Super Buu through his Instant Transmission technique after Goku’s fight with Vegeta. In his final fight against Kid Buu at the end of Dragon Ball Z, Goten uses his Super Saiyan form for the first time and fuses with Trunks to form Super Gotenks, who defeats Kid Buu with ease.
