In Pokémon Go, the only direct way to evolve your pokémon is to catch enough of the same species to reach a predetermined level. However, there are some indirect ways that can help you along the way.

1) Get a Lucky Egg

First off, if you’re going to evolve your pokémon, do it when you have a Lucky Egg. It doubles the amount of experience points you get for 30 minutes and makes it easier to get to the required levels for evolution.

2) Catch as many as possible

The more Pidgey, Rattata and Zubat you catch, the more likely it is that one of them will be at least 20 CP (or higher), which makes it eligible for evolution. The same goes for Caterpie and Weedle — they just require 50 CP instead of 20 CP.

3) Hatch as many as possible

Eggs take anywhere from 2 kilometers to 10 kilometers to hatch, depending on what kind they are and how long they’ve been incubating. Hatching them also gives double the amount of experience points compared with catching wild pokémon!
