When is the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup?

The 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be the eighth edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, the quadrennial international football championship contested by 24 women’s national teams representing member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place between 7 June and 7 July 2022, with all 52 games hosted by Qatar.

The host, Qatar, qualified automatically as hosts. The remaining 51 places are determined through a qualification process that has begun in March 2019 and will conclude on 28 February 2020.

The tournament will feature 24 teams — an increase from 16 teams in 2015 and 11 teams in 2011 — with each group consisting of three teams. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage, where there will be eight groups of three teams each, with the winners advancing to the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
