What To Do If Hair Dryer Catches On Fire ?

If your hair dryer catches on fire, unplug it immediately. Do not attempt to put out the flames with water or other liquids; this will only spread the fire. The same goes for electrical appliances like hair dryers and curling irons that are plugged in but not turned on; if they’re tipped over or damaged, they could short out and cause a fire.

If the dryer is still plugged in, unplug it and call 911. If it’s not plugged in, move it away from anything flammable or combustible (like furniture) before calling 911.

Do not use any type of extinguisher or water on the flames unless you have been trained by professionals to do so. If there is no source of water nearby, use sand or baking soda to smother the flames — never use oil or grease because they could cause more damage than they prevent!
