Metro Boomin is a rapper and producer from Atlanta, Georgia. He is known for his use of trap beats, heavy 808s and aggressive delivery.

Metro Boomin’s real name is Leland Wayne. He is of Afro-Caribbean and Cuban descent. Metro Boomin began rapping at the age of 12, but he didn’t begin producing until 2012 (at the age of 17).

Metro Boomin attended Hamilton High School in Decatur, Georgia where he played football and basketball. After graduating, he enrolled at Alabama State University but dropped out after one semester to focus on music full time.

Metro Boomin has worked with many artists including Drake, Gucci Mane, Future, Young Thug and Travis Scott among others. In 2015 he released two projects: Metro Thuggin (with 21 Savage) and Savage Mode (with Young Thug).

The first single from Savage Mode was “Pick Up The Phone” featuring Travis Scott and Quavo from Migos which peaked at #5 on Billboard Hot 100 chart making it Metro Boomin’s first top 10 hit as a lead artist or co-writer or co-producer.
