A 20 square foot room is a very small space. It’s about the size of a walk-in closet, which means that you can’t really fit much into it.
20 square feet is only about 1/5th of a standard sized American home and it is not enough room for much more than the bathroom or kitchen in a house. It’s also smaller than the average hotel room, which has around 100 square feet of living space.
Home Depot estimates that a 20 square foot room is large enough to fit a twin bed, dresser, nightstand and desk, which may sound like plenty of space but is actually not very practical. The average person needs at least 100 square feet per person if they want to live comfortably in their home.
