The highest peak in the world is Mount Everest, which is located on the border between China and Nepal. Mount Everest stands at 29,029 feet (8,848 meters) tall and was first climbed by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953.
Another famous mountain range is the Alps, which run through Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The highest peaks are found in Switzerland’s Bernese Alps or Bavarian Alps.
