What Is The Principle Difference Between An Autocracy And An Oligarchy ?

The principle difference between an autocracy and an oligarchy is that in an autocracy the political system is controlled by a single person while in an oligarchy, it is controlled by a small group of people.

In an autocracy, there is no democracy or any other form of government but only one man rules the country. He has all the power over everything and everyone. The citizens are not allowed to participate in decision making and they cannot say anything against him as well. The ruler does not take anyone’s advice before making any decision. This can be seen in countries like North Korea and Saudi Arabia etc.

The main difference between these two types of political systems is that in an oligarchy, there are many people who rule the country while in an autocracy, there is only one ruler who controls everything and it becomes impossible for others to express their opinions freely or even criticize him openly without getting punished for it legally or physically.
