The drinking age in Mexico is 18 and most resorts in Cancun will have bars and nightclubs where guests can drink. However, there are some rules that need to be followed.
Most hotels allow guests to bring their own alcohol onto the property, but they must be 21 years old or older to do so. There are also some hotels that don’t allow you to bring your own alcohol on-site at all, so make sure you ask before purchasing any liquor or beer.
Some resorts may have a limit on how much alcohol you can bring into the hotel with you (usually just a few bottles of wine per person). The most common limits are one liter per person per day or two liters per person per week. This includes beer and wine only; hard liquor is not included in these limits.
If you’re over 21 years old and want to drink at one of the resort’s bars or nightclubs, ask for a wristband from the bartender when ordering drinks.
