In statistics, it can be used to refer to the mean of a data set that is not normally distributed and does not exhibit symmetry around its mean value.

In sports, half refers to a player’s position on the field. For example: “After five minutes in the game, the score was 0–0 but it looked like it was going to be another boring draw until Messi scored from outside the box with a left-foot shot into the top corner after being played through by Suarez who had just come on for Neymar.”
