State is a way of describing the current condition of something. If a person is in good health, you can say that they are in a state of good health. If a situation is getting worse, it is said to be in a bad state. If something has been damaged or destroyed, it could be described as being in a ruined or broken state.
In business and economics, the term “state” is often used to describe the amount of capital available to an individual or organization. In this context, it refers to the total amount of money available for spending after all bills have been paid and debts have been paid off.
In politics, the term “state” refers to countries as well as smaller political entities such as cities or provinces. For example, if you live in New York City and tell someone that you are from New York State, you are referring not only to New York City but also all other cities and towns within New York State.
