What Is Carne De Res?

Carne de Res, or beef jerky, is a Mexican food made from lean cuts of beef that have been marinated in a blend of spices, then dried and sliced. The slices are often flavored with fruit flavors and some spice to create a sweet and spicy taste that goes well with beer. If you want to try making your own carne de res at home, here are some tips:

Prepare your meat properly by using lean cuts of beef like flank steak and top round. These cuts of meat have little fat content and tend to be chewy when cooked. Drying them out will get rid of this problem and make it easier for the meat to absorb flavor.

Marinate the meat overnight in a mixture of garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper powder, paprika powder, salt, brown sugar and water. This will help tenderize the meat while adding flavor at the same time.

Dry the beef slices between paper towels before cooking them on an electric grill or frying pan. Cook over medium heat until they reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit (71 degrees Celsius). Then place them back on paper towels until they cool down completely before storing them in an airtight container at room temperature.
