What Is A Draft Cola?

Draft cola is a carbonated soft drink made from cola flavoring, sugar or high-fructose corn syrup, and water. It typically contains caffeine and other ingredients such as caramel colouring and phosphoric acid to give it a dark brown colour.

The first draft cola was produced in 1891 by Dr Pepper, but it was not until the 1940s that carbonated soft drinks began to be sold in supermarkets and convenience stores. Today, draft cola can be found in supermarkets across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The term “draft” refers to the way the beverage is served rather than a particular type of container or glass. The majority of draft soft drinks are dispensed through a pressurized system that forces them through a small opening into a container called a glass rinser or soda gun. In some cases, however, draft soft drinks are served from kegs through taps similar to those found on beer taps.
