When you’re traveling for business, it’s easy to forget about the little things. Your hotel room may be a temporary home away from home, but that doesn’t mean you should leave anything behind.
Here are a few things you should never do in your hotel room:
- Leave drugs or other illegal substances behind. If the police find drugs in your room, they’ll assume you were using them and will charge you accordingly. The same goes for any prescription drugs that aren’t yours — whether they’re in your suitcase or in your bathroom.
- Forget about valuables. It’s easy to leave expensive items behind when you’re rushing out of town on a business trip, but don’t make this mistake! Always check behind furniture and under beds before leaving a hotel room. If you don’t have time to search thoroughly, ask the front desk if they can help look for lost items before you check out (you might be surprised!)
- Forget to tip housekeeping staff members who clean your room while you’re gone! Housekeeping staff members work hard cleaning rooms all day long and deserve tips just like any other service worker would get at a restaurant or bar after performing their job well (they even get paid less than many other professions).
