The green dot on OKCupid is a feature that allows you to quickly see if someone has seen your profile. The feature was first introduced in 2011 and replaced the “read” button with a green dot, which indicates that a user has viewed your profile.

The green dot is meant to help users make better decisions about who they message and who they don’t message. If a user’s profile has a green dot on it, it means that someone has already viewed their profile—meaning that they’re likely interested in them and/or their profile (!). But if there’s no green dot, then it might be worth sending them a message anyway.

When someone views your profile, they’ll also receive an alert on their home screen letting them know that another user has looked at their profile. This can be useful if you want to know whether or not someone’s seen your profile yet!
