id smash is a term used by players in the game Minecraft to indicate that they have destroyed all of the blocks of a certain material. For example, if you id smash obsidian, then it means that you’ve destroyed all obsidian blocks in your inventory.

In other games, this may be known as “id” or “iD” (pronounced eye-dee). It is sometimes also used to refer to smashing blocks in general or to indicate that someone has smashed something.

The term originated from another game, Garry’s Mod (GMod), where there is an achievement called “ID Smash!”. In GMod, this achievement is earned by destroying every block in a map without dying once while having the Gravity Gun equipped with the item “Super Smash.” The achievement award was originally named “ID Smashed”, but was changed to avoid confusion with similar achievements that were named after items rather than actions (such as “Glass Smashed”).
