Eggs. Not so long ago, eggs were considered unhealthy and it was recommended that people avoid them. Now research suggests that eggs can be part of a healthy diet as long as you’re not eating more than two per week.
Cheese. Cheese is another food that has been on and off the “eat” list over the years. It’s high in fat, but most cheeses are also high in protein and calcium, making them an excellent source of nutrients. The key is to choose low-fat varieties whenever possible.
Whole grains like oatmeal or whole wheat bread. There’s no need to eliminate bread from your diet, even if you’re trying to lose weight — as long as you eat whole grain breads instead of white ones, which have less fiber and nutrients than whole grains do. Look for breads labeled 100% whole wheat or 100% whole grain; they’ll contain more fiber than those labeled “wheat bread.”
