The Price Is Right is an American game show created by Bob Stewart, Mark Goodson and Bill Todman. The show revolves around contestants competing to identify accurate pricing of merchandise to win cash and prizes. Contestants are selected from the studio audience when the announcer proclaims the show’s famous catchphrase, “Come on down!”

The program has been successful in daytime television and has aired in syndication since September 24, 1972; international versions have been developed in 45 countries. The show’s popularity continues to this day, with a recent survey of 2,000 adults in the United States finding that more than half of Americans over age 40 were able to name at least one product from the show. A 2008 study found that viewers were more likely to purchase products shown on The Price Is Right than those seen on other reality television shows.

The Price Is Right has been rated as one of the best gameshows ever by viewers through online gaming forums such as GameFAQs and Giant Bomb; in 2006 it was named one of Game Show Network’s Top Ten Gameshows Of All Time. It also won for favorite game show at the People’s Choice Awards in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and has been nominated for many other awards including Daytime Emmy.
