I was recently served with a restraining order by my child’s father. He is accusing me of harassment, stalking and abuse. I have not spoken to him since he moved out of our home over two years ago. He has been calling me constantly and leaving threatening messages on my voicemail. He has also left several messages on my work phone making false accusations that I am stalking him and his new girlfriend at her work place and trying to get her fired by calling her boss with lies about her.
I have tried to file a report with the police but they say there is no evidence of any wrongdoing on my part and that it’s all hearsay from him. The only thing I have done is call him back once or twice when he called me in an effort to be civil so that my daughter wouldn’t hear us arguing over the phone. He has threatened me repeatedly saying things like “You’ll be sorry” or “You’re going to pay for this.”
I am very concerned about what might happen if we run into each other somewhere (like at a store) because he has been known to become violent when under the influence of drugs or alcohol (which seems like all the time).
