Meghan Markle has not lied about her age, her real name or her ethnicity.

She was born in Los Angeles and raised in the San Fernando Valley by a single mother who worked as a social worker. Her father left before she was born and never came back into her life after that.

When Meghan was 11 years old, her mother married again and moved to Mexico for work reasons. Meghan went to high school there and then went on to Northwestern University where she studied theatre and international relations. She graduated with a degree in theatre & international studies in 2003, following which she moved to Toronto for a year where she took acting classes at the Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA). She appeared in several short films and TV commercials during this time before moving back to LA where she started working as an intern with The Young And The Restless (Y&R).

In 2005 she moved back to Toronto again where she worked as an assistant at a Canadian television show called The Bachelor Canada. After that she got married to an actor named Trevor Engelson who was also from Los Angeles but originally from South Africa. They had one child together
