You can warm up syrup in the microwave, but you may want to heat it in a pan on the stove if you want to add alcohol or mix it with other liquids.
Warming Up Syrup in the Microwave
Warming up syrup in the microwave is fast and easy. It’s best to use glass or plastic containers, not metal ones. The metal can cause sparks and damage your microwave.
- Put 1 tablespoon of water into the container with your syrup and stir it around until it dissolves. This will prevent condensation from forming on the outside of the container when you warm up your syrup.
- Heat your container for no more than 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating cycle so that all of the syrup warms evenly. You don’t want one side burning while another is still cool!
