The battery on your Honda Civic Hybrid is responsible for powering many of the systems in your car. The battery is used to start the engine, charge the electrical system and provide power when you turn on accessories such as the radio or headlights. The battery is also used to supply power when you are driving and using your headlights or other accessories that consume power from the battery.
The battery can fail at any time due to age, improper maintenance or abuse. If this happens, you will need to replace it immediately as it could cause damage to other components in your car if not replaced promptly.
Testing The Battery
You can test your Honda Civic Hybrid’s battery by checking voltage levels and determining whether current is flowing through it properly. This can be done by using a multimeter, which is available at most hardware stores for less than $20 USD (see Resources).
To test the voltage level of your car’s battery:
Turn off all electrical accessories such as lights and radios before testing voltage levels. Make sure your vehicle has been turned off for at least 10 minutes before testing voltage levels so that there isn’t any residual energy left in your battery which will affect readings on your multimeter;
