If a company claims to have the world’s largest fleet of aircraft, it’s probably a good idea to check. The United States Air Force is the largest in the world, with some 5500 planes in service, but it’s actually not the only one that has a significant number of aircraft.
For example, Russia’s Air Force has an estimated 2200 aircraft in service, including military transports and trainers. It includes several types that are unique to Russia or used nowhere else in the world.
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Air Force has approximately 2000 aircraft in service, including fighters and bombers. India also has a significant force of around 1500 planes and helicopters in service.
