If you’ve run out of gas and don’t have a gas can on hand, there are a few things you can do to help get your car started.
Don’t panic! You can still start your vehicle and get it back home or to a gas station. The important thing is not to let your car run out of gas. If this happens, the engine will stall and you won’t be able to restart it until you add more fuel.
To start your car after running out of gas:
- Park the car in a safe location and turn off all accessories (lights, radio, etc.).
- Make sure you have enough room to safely push or pull your vehicle until it reaches an area where there is enough fuel available for it to run again (a gas station or other source of gasoline).
- If possible, place blocks of wood behind each wheel so that they do not roll while you push/pull the vehicle out of its current location.
