When the time comes to replace your blades, you’ll need to remove them from the fan. Depending on the type of fan and blades, this process can vary. However, most blades are held in place by screws or clips that you can easily find with a screwdriver or flathead knife.
If your fan has a solid housing, use a flathead screwdriver to pop off the cover on each side of the housing to expose the screws that hold it together. Once you have access to these screws, remove them and separate the two halves of your fan’s housing.
Next, take note of how your blades are attached to your motor shaft. You should be able to see a small hole or slot where each blade meets its mounting bracket (the part that attaches it to the shaft). Inside this hole is another smaller hole that allows you to insert an Allen wrench or special blade remover tool (available at home improvement stores). Insert this tool into each blade’s mounting bracket and turn counterclockwise until it pops off.
