How To Screw Into Metal Door?

The best way to screw into metal is with a self-drilling screw. These screws have a fluted tip that allows them to cut their own thread as they are driven in, which makes them ideal for use in metal. The problem is that most self-drilling screws don’t have enough torque to drive themselves into the metal, so you need to use an impact driver or drill with a drill bit that fits the flutes on the head of the screw.

The best type of drill bit for this job is a masonry bit, which has a hollow shaft and can accept adapters that increase its size. You’ll need to get one with at least a ½” diameter shaft and then buy an adapter (usually called a chuck) that fits over it and allows you to fit it onto your drill.

Then put on safety goggles, gloves and hearing protection before you begin drilling into your door frame. Drill into each corner where you want to attach something first, then move on to each additional location until you’ve drilled all four holes per item being attached.
