There are a few ways to mute your iPad or iPhone during a FaceTime call.
If you’re using an iPad and have access to the Home button, simply press it. This will bring up the multitasking menu, which includes a list of all running apps. You can then swipe up on the FaceTime app and tap the Mute button that appears in blue at the top of the screen.
You can also use Siri to mute FaceTime calls. First, launch Siri by holding down the Home button or by saying “Hey Siri” if you have that feature turned on. Then tell Siri to “mute my iPhone” or “mute my iPad” and it will do so. If you want to unmute your device, just say “Unmute my iPhone” or “Unmute my iPad.
