Next, you need to make sure that Steam is closed while you are installing mods. This is because mods are not fully compatible with it and can cause problems if used while Steam is open.

It’s best to use Mod Organizer instead of the Creation Kit or Nexus Mod Manager, but since we’re using a site like Mod Nexus that uses these tools, we have no choice but to use them for now.

Once you’ve downloaded the mod and unzipped it (if required), double-click on it and wait for it to open up in its own window (if not already). If your program doesn’t do this automatically, go into your file manager and find the folder where you saved your mod files and double-click on them there.

as well as opening them in an archive reader such as WinRAR or 7Zip first so they will open properly when double-clicked. Then navigate through that folder until you see an esp file – this should be at the very top level of your hard drive.
