Linden Lab, the company that owns Second Life, has a history of being very clear about how to earn lindens. Linden Lab has always been a little cagey about exactly how much money users can make from Second Life. They’ve never released any concrete numbers on the subject, but they did release some figures back in 2006.

The company said that there were 1 million people generating $1 million each year from Second Life in 2005, which was up from $600 million in 2004 and $400 million in 2003. Linden Lab also said that there were another 1 million people making less than $1 million per year from Second Life at that time.

So what does all this mean? Well, according to these figures, you can probably expect to make somewhere between $1 and $10 per month if you have no skills whatsoever and just sit around clicking buttons all day long.

If you’re more skilled or have better resources at your disposal (a lot of land), then those numbers could go up by several orders of magnitude — possibly even into six figures per year!
