How To Destroy A Lich’s Phylactery?

The lich’s phylactery is the source of its immortality. Destroy it, and you destroy the lich. There are two ways to do this:

Destroy the lich’s body while its phylactery is still intact (the lich must be in its original body). The phylactery must be hidden somewhere safe and well-hidden (the DM will help you determine where this might be).

Find the phylactery by using detect magic or identify to determine what type of object it is, then use a dispel magic spell on it. If your caster level equals or exceeds that of the lich’s manifester level, you automatically succeed (no dispel check required). If not, make a dispel check as normal; if successful, the phylactery is destroyed.
