If you’re playing a pacifist run, it’s possible to beat Asriel without hurting him in the slightest.

First of all, you need to make sure that you have three heart containers and the maximum number of hit points. This means that you must have fought Toriel, Sans and Papyrus.

Then, while talking with Asriel (after he has turned into Flowey), choose any options other than “You were just trying to protect me.” or “Don’t kill me.” This will make him drop his guard and allow you to dodge his attacks more easily.

When he starts attacking you, instead of dodging them (which is impossible anyway), stay still and take damage until your health reaches zero. You’ll then die and be transported back to the last save point, but this time with an empty HP bar.

The trick here is that if there are no monsters around when your health reaches zero, Asriel will stop attacking and wait for you to get back up again. You can then talk with him again and he’ll act like nothing happened!

Now that you’ve established contact with Flowey/Asriel again, choose “No!” when he asks whether or not you want to spare him from death again. This should make him drop his.
