If you’re having trouble getting your SIM card out, it’s probably because the ejector pin is broken. The ejector pin is a small metal rod that pushes on the SIM card to release it from its housing.

If you’ve ever tried to remove a SIM card and had it get stuck, you may have noticed a small hole in the side of the card that looks like this:

That’s where the ejector pin goes in. When you insert your SIM into your phone or tablet, you push on this area until it clicks into place. The ejector pin keeps the SIM securely in place while it’s inside your device.

The problem with this design is that if something happens to break off of your ejector pin — like if you drop your phone on concrete — then it won’t be able to do its job anymore. Your SIM will become stuck inside of its housing and there’s nothing you can do about it.
