We received a number of responses to our question about how much does a bike chain cost? From our research, it appears that the average price for a new bike chain is $10.00 to $20.00.

The most expensive chains are those that are made from high quality materials such as titanium or carbon fiber. These chains can be sold at prices ranging from $100 up to $300 or more depending on the brand and model.

Some brands offer less expensive versions of their popular chain models that do not use these exotic materials but still offer good performance and durability at lower prices. The most inexpensive chains are those made from steel, which can be purchased for as little as $5 to $8 each, although they will not last nearly as long as the more expensive models mentioned above.

In addition to price differences between types of chains there are also differences in how much they cost based on whether they are new or used and whether they come with fittings already attached (ready-to-install) or not (requires additional parts).
