How Many Gallons Of Water In A Ton?

There is no direct answer to this question because the amount of water in a ton depends on the type of material the ton is made of. It also depends on how that material was formed, how much air it contains and how much moisture it contains.

In general, most materials contain between 1% and 3% water by weight. This would be about 1/3 cup to 1/2 cup per pound of material.

For example, if you have a ton of clay (which has a relatively high water content), it will have about 3 gallons of water in it. If you have a ton of sand (which has a low water content), it will likely only have about 1 gallon of water in it.
