This is a very simple question that requires some thought to answer. The first step is to find out how much volume the container has. You can do this by filling it with water, then measuring how much water it takes to fill the container.
If you have a bucket or other container that holds 5 gallons and want to know how many cubic feet of water it holds, here’s how you do it:
Measure the length, width and height of your container. If it’s more than one dimension (such as a rectangular box), measure all three dimensions.
Measure the depth of the container by pouring water into it until it is full, then measuring how much water was used (in liters). If there are multiple layers of water in your container, measure the deepest layer first.
Multiply each dimension by its respective depth measurement by 1/2 foot (305 mm). This gives you an approximate volume in cubic feet (or liters).
