Most piano students start with a 30 minute lesson. This is usually enough time to cover the main concepts of the lesson, plus some additional practice time.
As your child progresses and becomes more comfortable playing the piano, his or her lesson length will increase. Typically, once a student reaches about 60 minutes total practice time per week, lessons are increased to 45 minutes per week.
When your child has reached 80 minutes total practice time per week (including practice time outside of class), he or she should be ready to move up to an hour long lesson.
