Police motorcycles are fast, but their top speed is limited to protect the riders and their passengers.

The fastest police motorcycle ever built was a Yamaha YZF-R1 owned by the Colorado State Patrol in 2008. The bike was modified with a supercharger kit that allowed it to reach speeds of 206 mph. However, no one has ever tested it on a track or officially recorded its top speed.

The fastest stock police motorcycle is the BMW R1200RT-P, which can reach 130 mph. This model is usually used by federal law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and DEA because it can carry multiple passengers more comfortably than other models.

The Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS (2012) is another popular choice among police departments because it offers excellent handling as well as good acceleration at high speeds. It can reach up to 120 mph when equipped with optional equipment like ABS brakes, heated grips and windshields.
