Do you have a plan? It’s a question many people ask themselves after they’ve been laid off or fired.
But what if you have no idea what you want to do? What if you’re not sure if you should stay in your field, or make a career switch?
The good news is, making a career change can be easier than you think — as long as you have a plan. Here are four steps to get started:
Do some soul searching. First, take some time to figure out what makes you happy and fulfilled in your life. What do you enjoy doing? What makes you feel fulfilled at the end of the day? This is important because it will help guide your career change.
Set goals. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from working with job seekers over the years, it’s that having clear goals is imperative for success! You need to know what kind of job or business you want so that when opportunity presents itself, you’ll know whether or not it’s right for you — and whether or not it’s worth pursuing further.
Create an action plan. Once you know what kind of job (or business) would make you happy and fulfilled, create an action plan that outlines how.
