Did Aegon I conquer any castles?

Aegon I Targaryen, also known as Aegon the Conqueror, was the first of the Targaryen kings to sit on the Iron Throne. He took his seat after conquering six of the seven kingdoms in Westeros.

Aegon didn’t conquer every castle in Westeros during his campaign. He likely had limited resources, so he focused on taking those castles that were vital for the conquest of King’s Landing. These included Storm’s End and Casterly Rock, two of Aegon’s greatest rivals during his campaign.

The one castle that he didn’t conquer was Highgarden, but it wasn’t because he couldn’t; it was because Lord Mace Tyrell surrendered without a fight. This was done to prevent Aegon from having an excuse to burn Highgarden to the ground like he did with Harrenhal and other castles along his way.
