Car Makes Clicking Noise When Braking ?

If you hear a clicking sound when braking, it may be time to take your vehicle in for service. The sound is caused by the calipers. Calipers are metal brackets that allow the brake pads to squeeze the brake discs when you press on the brakes. The calipers have a piston that pushes on a pad, pushing against the disc and slowing the car down.

The pistons can become worn or damaged from age or wear and tear. When this happens, they might not push hard enough against the brake pad, causing a loud clicking noise when you press on the brakes.

If you’re hearing this noise, take your car in for service as soon as possible — especially if it’s accompanied by any other problems such as pulling to one side when braking or difficulty stopping altogether. If left untreated, this condition could cause major damage to your brakes which could lead to an accident.
